How do i prevent cookie dough from being sticky?
i enjoy baking cut-out sugar cookies. For the holidays, i've dyed the sugar cookies red. After incorporating the food coloring, the dough becomes very sticky and soft. i place the dough in the freezer for about an hour. i had flour on the surface and rolling pin to prevent the dough from sticking but it still sticks everywhere. This is very frustrating.
Is there a way to no longer have sticky and soft dyed cookie dough?
Thanks!!
Wildflower and Megan have it right.
If you add more flour, you risk making your cookies tough.
Reduce the amount of liquid you use by the amount of food color you use.
Use a rolling pin cover, and refrigerate your dough when it gets warm and sticky.
Sugar cookie dough will be sticky when it gets warm from working or from your hands and the ambient temperature.
