the length of a rectangle?
The length of a rectangle is twice its width w. A second rectangle, which is 8 cm longer and 3 cm narrower than the first rectangle, has preimeter 154 cm. Find the dimensions of each rectangle.
i dont know how to put in the 3 cm narrower...

I really don't understand how to put this in a chart. However, the algebra solution is below. The three cm narrower just means that there is a minus sign in the equation:
Starting equations:
L1 = 2 W1
L2 = L1 + 8
W2 = W1 - 3
2 L2 + 2 W2 = 154
Solving:
2 (L1 + 
+ 2 (W1 -3) = 154
2 L1 + 16 + 2 (2 L1) - 6 = 154
6 L1 +10 = 154
L1 = 24
From there, it should be simple to solve for the remaining variables.
